In person Intructor Classes
Please contact your instructor to begin your BTW lessons after you have completed your first 6 hours and have received your permit.

Complete Driver Education (For ages 18-24):
1. Complete Driver Education (For ages 18-24):

Teens-If you are younger than 18, you will must complete 24 education hours and 12 hours of behind-the-wheel (BTW) training, plus an additional 30 hours of behind-the-wheel practice.

This can be completed right here at Right Turn Driving Academy!

Adults-If you are between 18 and 24, you must complete a Texas-approved 6-hour adult driver's education course.

This can be completed online right here at Right Turn Driving Academy!

Complete the Impact Texas Drivers (ITD) Program:
-
All applicants under 25 must complete the ITD program, which is a one-hour online course focusing on distracted driving risks.

Head to the DPS!!

Gather all necessary documents, which include:
-
Social Security card
-
Proof of U.S. citizenship (birth certificate, passport, or green card)
-
Proof of Texas residency
-
A completed driver's license application
-

Pass Tests
-
Vision Test: Pass a vision test at the DPS.
-
Knowledge Test: Pass a written knowledge test demonstrating understanding of traffic laws and safe driving practices.

Road Test: Finally, pass a practical driving skills test (road test).

Receive your license
Once you pass all tests, you will receive your official Texas driver's license.
