1. Complete Driver Education (For ages 18-24):

• Teens-If you are younger than 18, you will must complete 24 education hours and 12 hours of behind-the-wheel (BTW) training, plus an additional 30 hours of behind-the-wheel practice.

  • This can be completed right here at Right Turn Driving Academy! 

• Adults-If you are between 18 and 24, you must complete a Texas-approved 6-hour adult driver's education course.

  • This can be completed online right here at Right Turn Driving Academy!

• All applicants under 25 must complete the ITD program, which is a one-hour online course focusing on distracted driving risks.

• Gather all necessary documents, which include:

  • Social Security card

  • Proof of U.S. citizenship (birth certificate, passport, or green card)

  • Proof of Texas residency

  • A completed driver's license application

  • Payment of the application fee ($25) 

• Vision Test: Pass a vision test at the DPS. 

• Knowledge Test: Pass a written knowledge test demonstrating understanding of traffic laws and safe driving practices. 

• Road Test: Finally, pass a practical driving skills test (road test). 

Once you pass all tests, you will receive your official Texas driver's license.
