Frequently Asked Questions

  • Teens can begin driver education at 14 years old but must be at least 15 to apply for a learner's permit.

  • Yes, individuals aged 18-24 are required to complete a 6-hour adult driver education course to apply for a Texas driver's license.

  • If you are 25 or older, you are not required to take driver’s ed in Texas. However, it is highly recommended to help pass the written and driving tests. If you take the 6-hour online course, you will not have to take the written test at your local DPS.

  • Once the student has earned their permit (minimum of 15 years old), they must drive with an adult (21+ with a minimum of 1-year driving experience).

  • Teen courses typically consist of 32 hours of classroom instruction, while adult courses are 6 hours long.

  • Yes! Our course includes the Official Permit Test — absolutely FREE!

    You can take your Official Permit Test right on our website the same day you enroll. As soon as you complete Module 1 of 12, the test will be unlocked and available on your dashboard. 👍

    No extra steps, no extra fees — just complete Module 1 and you're ready to test!

    Plus, our course moves at the FASTEST pace allowed by Texas law — so you can hit the road even sooner.

  • We allow one (1) year, from the date of purchase, to complete the state-mandated Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel instruction requirements (Modules 1-12 and the Behind-the-Wheel Instruction Hours).

  • Per the state, a Teen who meets the following requirements is eligible to take our Parent Taught Driver Education Course:

    • Must be ages 14 – 17.

    • Must be a current Texas Resident.

    • Must be currently enrolled in school (Public, Private or Homeschool):

    • If graduated, the student may present a High School Diploma or its equivalent

    • A Parent or Step-parent


    • A “Legal” Guardian


    • A Foster parent


    • A Grandparent, Step-Grandparent; or

    • A person that has been designated by a parent, legal guardian or a court judge.
